I'd like to avoid gaining any weight from Thanksgiving till Easter. Is that possible? Has anyone ever done it? I doubt it.
I was doing good when I was in college, but now I sit in front of a computer at work all day. I"ve slowly started to gain weight and had to buy some bigger clothes and such. Writing this has given me enough motivation to go workout at the gym tonight, woohooo!
Having a hobby that gets you moving is a fun way to burn calories, but you don't have to be an Olympic athlete. Tending a garden or running around looking for sales can count too (let's face it, shopping is practically a sport). Do you have any hobbies that get you moving? Have you ever kept track of how many calories you burn while doing what you already enjoy? Have you considered a step-counter to record how much you move day-to-day? Are there any hobbies you'd like to try?
Yeah, of course I've got a hobby. I'm SurferRoss for a reason.
Surfing burns a ton of calories, how many, I don't know. I'm going for a more intuitive approach than counting calories. I try to listen to my body, if it says I need more exercise that's what I do, if i need to eat a little less that's what I do. Nothing too extreme either way.
I think a step counter would be pretty fun. I don't know if it would help me, other than just motivate me to test it.
My hobby keeps me moving though and the best part of all, it keeps me training. Looking a certain way doesn't motivate me like preparing to be the best surfer I can be.
I'd like to get into ATV's or Quads more. I love nature and getting around the forest at a high speed seems fun. Boxing looks fun too, but I don't feel like getting punched, so that's out. The new thing seems to be Dodgeball leagues, I hear it gets pretty serious.
