O2fre's Goals:

I'm a 25 years old guy, about 120 pounds, I run 5 to 6 miles a day and swim a couple miles a week. An advocate of the Mediterranean diet, I find it easy to keep it healthy, nutritious and satisfying. I drink alcohol occasionally and I just quit smoking once and for good. My goal is to keep these habits as I get older. To remain healthy, skinny and toned. Simple enough, right?

O2fre's Story:

I've always been a skinny guy, and I never watched what i ate until I left my parents' house for college. There, I started eating junk food everyday. It was quick, tasted good, light on my wallet and somewhat "fun." Four years later, and to my own amazement, I had grown a belly and my face had gotten rounder. A couple days after breaking up with my girlfriend, in February 2006 if I remember correctly, I ran my first mile on a treadmill. I never stopped ever since. I went from 155 pounds to 120 in two years. I forgot about junk food, learned how to cook, and overtime refined my diet. Breakfast is very important, lunch and dinner are healthy, tasty although small in portions. Snacks consist mainly of fruits, and I treat myself with Hot Coco every night. Once a week I break all the rules with junk food and deserts, thus indulging myself in the heavens of sugar and fatty meals. Considering the rigor of my diet and the extent to which I exercise, this weekly slipping has never had a lasting impact on my weight. And I enjoy it.

You Are What You Write

Food journaling may seem like a chore, but it can be fun! Add doodles, pictures, and notes to yourself. Just write down all the foods (yes, every sugar packet in your coffee) you eat for a week, or even just a day. And no cheating! This is a private journal, just for you, so be honest. Try some of these category ideas: Food, Quantity, Time, Current Mood. When you're done, tell us what you've learned from this experience. Did anything surprise you? Did you find any patterns? Did the journal help you stay on track?
